How Homerow began
Homerow grew out of a particular kind of conversation that comes up in many Malaysian families: someone passes away, or moves abroad, or simply gets older — and no one is quite sure where the important papers are. Not because the family was careless. Because nobody ever sat down and talked about it.
The founders noticed this pattern repeatedly, through work in community education and adult learning. The gap was not information — it was structure. Families needed a safe, unhurried space to do this work together.
Homerow was set up in Petaling Jaya in 2021 to provide exactly that. We designed three programmes — each scoped carefully to stay within the educational and administrative lane, free of legal or financial opinion.
We keep our sessions small and our materials tangible. Every participant leaves with something printed they can actually use at home — not a login, not a PDF buried in email. A folder. A deck of cards. A handbook.

Our small team
Sharifah Liana
Founder & Lead Facilitator
Fourteen years in adult education across Selangor. Sharifah designed the core session frameworks and wrote most of the printed materials used in every programme.
Rajan Haridas
Programme Coordinator
Rajan handles session scheduling, participant correspondence, and the physical materials kit. He has a background in community organising and keeps the logistics tidy.
Nurul Farhana
Workshop Facilitator
Farhana leads the Family Conversation Workshops. She trained in facilitation and group process, and is particularly skilled at making structured conversations feel natural.

Our standards and commitments
These are not aspirations. They are the actual operating principles that shape every session we run.
Strict scope discipline
We do not offer opinions on legal matters, tax positions, or financial arrangements. Our work is educational and organisational — nothing more.
Participant confidentiality
What is shared in a session stays in the session. We do not store details of household documents or personal arrangements beyond what is needed for follow-up logistics.
Non-pressured delivery
Sessions are never used to upsell additional services or products. Participants are never made to feel behind or inadequate.
Tangible materials standard
All session materials are printed and handed over. We do not rely on apps or portals that may become inaccessible. Your household keeps the physical copies.
Adult learning principles
Facilitation follows established adult education frameworks. Sessions are participatory, not lecture-based. Participants shape the pace and focus of each meeting.
Data protection practice
Personal data collected at registration is handled in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. We collect only what is needed and retain it only as long as necessary.
◆ Our Approach
Family document organisation in Malaysia — a practical perspective
Most Malaysian households hold a considerable volume of records across multiple generations — identity documents, property papers, insurance policies, savings certificates, and correspondence that has accumulated over decades. The challenge is rarely a shortage of documents. The challenge is knowing where they are, who else in the family knows, and what to do when something needs to be found quickly.
Homerow's programmes are built around this reality. We do not assume a household is in crisis. Most of our participants are simply at a point — a significant birthday, a child leaving home, an ageing parent — where getting things in order feels timely.
The Family Records Programme, in particular, works through a household's records layer by layer, introducing a labelling and indexing system that the family can maintain independently. No subscription, no platform to log in to. A physical handbook and a folder system.
The Family Conversation Workshop takes a different angle. It acknowledges that the hardest part of household planning is often not the paperwork — it is the conversation. We provide simple, tested frameworks that help families have those conversations without them turning into arguments or getting stuck on disagreements about specifics.
Homerow is based in SS 2, Petaling Jaya, and works primarily with households in Klang Valley. Sessions are conducted in English and can be arranged at our premises or, in some cases, at a suitable venue closer to participants.
